Welcome to Rosebery Primary School!
Our school is the Northern Territory’s newest school, along with our neighbours at Rosebery Middle School with whom we share a state-of-the-art school campus that is emerging as a highly effective learning community. This is the very first time the NT Government has chosen to establish two purpose built schools on the one campus and we share both some important ideologies as well as physical resources including a Performing Arts Centre, Gymnasium, Library and oval. The two Principals were appointed one year prior to opening the schools so that a combined plan could be fully developed and shared with the teachers as they were also appointed.
We opened our doors to 281 students on January 25th 2011 and our enrolments have steadily increased in the period since. At the commencement of the year our students had been at more than 30 different government and non-government schools across both the NT and wider Australia. We believe strongly in acknowledging the language and culture of our Indigenous students who represent around 8% of our enrolment and the approx 10% of our students who speak English as an additional language. Around 28% of our students are also from actively serving Australian Defence Force families and we are also mindful to cater specifically for their unique needs and circumstances.
Rosebery Primary School adheres to the NT DET policy on Priority Enrolment. This means that we accept enrolments from the surrounding Rosebery and Bellamack suburbs and we will also be including Zuccoli as that area is developed further. This should not be confused with Rosebery Middle School who cater for students in Years 7-9 across the Palmerston region.
Rosebery PS was built with a focus on new architecture which would facilitate a contemporary way of thinking about educating NT students. Our teachers work together, for both planning and teaching, and our students respond to the student-centred programs that have become a feature of their educational experience.
